this is a look at 237 as you cross 880. it looks pretty good. i wonder if the controls can bring up the san mateo bridge. because that bridge is a problem. there was late running road work on the san mateo bridge and you can see if you look at this picture, the traffic is almost backing up toward the toll plaza. they are picking up the cones but you should be aware the san mateo bridge is not a great option for you right now. let's go back to the desk. only on 2, 25 pot plants were seized in an overnight bust in san jose. the raid happened on charter park drive. janine de la vega is right there now. you have new information from the police j mean. >> reporter: i just got off the phone with the police haunt who said the marijuana confiscated was worth $150-$250,000.

you can see here is leftover paraphia fell ya. police got a call from someone doing a maintenance check on the building at charter park drive near capitol expressway. ten officers responded and it took them several hours to haul all the plants out. >> at this point this case will be turned over to our narcotics unit and they will do follow up and see who is leasing this building. >> reporter: police say the business seems to be a front for the grow operation. i've even called the phone

number but nobody is answering that line. here you can see this is next to a business called super tech. on the other side of this industrial park we see an electronic computer company. hopefully as the businesses and the employees arrive, we will see if they noticed any funny business going on inside here. reporting live from san jose janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 news. police say this kind of indoor pot bust appears to be a new trend. police are discovering fewer marijuana plants growing outside on public land. law enforcement officials believe more marijuana is being grown on private property.

in just a few hours a meet willing be held at a san mateo elementary school where a nine- year-old girl was abducted from a restroom and molested. alex savidge is there at park side elementary where the school is on high alert this morning. >> reporter: even though a man has been arrested in connection with this brazen crime, parents here are still worried. that is why san mateo police and the superintendent will be holding a meeting for parents here at park side elementary school to talk about this kidnapping. nay will also discuss possible changes to the policy. it was last friday when a nine- year-old girl was kidnapped from a stranger at a nearby bathroom. prosecutors filed charges against 25-year-old bradley mrozak of san francisco. he groped that girl inside the bathroom and put his hand over her mouth and carried her off campus. we were able to talk to the man who's daughter is friends with

the victim. >> they all worry about each other so yeah they look up to each other. yet when you go home or something you have to go with the pair. go with your family. >> reporter: and in light of what happened school officials tell ktvu they are considering closing the park side campus all together. and no longer allowing parents to wait outside of their children's classrooms as they do right now. friday's kidnapping keep in mind happened right as school was letting out. the accused kidnapper in this case he was arraigned on felony kidnapping. he also harassed students at two other nearby schools earlier that same day. in the meantime parents worried about the safety of their students. they will be gathering for that meeting. it gets started at 8:30 this morning. live this morning in san mateo alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. our ktvu cameras caught the

image of a man in a carjacking. he was taken into custody yesterday afternoon. police say he had stole an car at gunpoint from the home depot parking lot. police located at car at an apartment complex and arrested grays as he was trying to run from the apartment. 6:06. iranian president is in new york today to take center teenage before the united nations general assembly. iran's nuclear program will be the big focus. coming up at 6:15 we'll take you live to the washington, d.c. bureau and tell you how he's responding to new threats from the united nations. i have to think these refs work part time for the obama administration and budget office.

league assistance abuse policy. the team could choose to use him during the national league championship series. of course if the team makes it that far. time now 6:08. starting march 1st rvs will not be allowed to park overnight in some san francisco neighborhoods. yesterday the board of supervisors passed a ban on rvs saying the idea is to get people out of rvs and into temporary housing. however there are some homeless advocates that are saying this will force more people out on the streets. complete list of locations that are banning rvs will be banned by the city transportation agency. it will include parts of the sunset and bay view districts. 6:09 is the time. time to check back in with sal. any problems? >> we are looking at the san mateo bridge very closely pam and dave. we've had late rink road work. they have picked it up. actually i'm looking at this and traffic is seemingly not getting worse. which is the first good sign we

and guarantees the politicians can't touch it. thirty-eight will restore the education cuts from sacramento. so remember this number. thirty-eight. it is now 6:14. there is a controversial ad at new york subway stations that is causing quite a stir. the ad supports israel and urges the defeat of jihad. however critics say the ad implies muslims are avenuages. the ads were put up despite objections from the transit authority. a court ruled the message was protected as free speech. >> to our elected officials and mta to make clear that the city of new york does not endorse

this hate group. >> there are ten ads throughout the city. a couple of the ads were vandalized just hours after they went up. iran's president takes the stable at the united nations today. one stay after president obama made new warning about iran's nuclear program. >> reporter: mahmoud ahmadinejad is expected to call for a new world order to stop what he calls the era of u.s. bullying. now u.n. officials have urged him not to use the same type of inflammatory language he as used in the past. in an interview he denied iran was building a a nuclear weapon and dismissed threats frommize rail about possible attacks. >> can one country becaused on just their own sole opinion decide and establish a run line -- red line for another country and threaten attacks? >> reporter: president obama

warned in his u.n. speech yesterday, time is running out for iran to resolve disputes over the nuclear program but he did not outline specific consequences. reporting live from washington, d.c. alison burns ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:16 in just a couple hours a concord teenager is expected to be in court reportedly to enter a guilty plea in connection with a crash that killed a father and daughter. it happened back in april on treat boulevard. police say the 17-year-old was speeding when he hit solomon nuri and his nine-year-old daughter when they were riding bikes. just last month he pleaded not guilty to charges. but we are hearing this morning he is expected to enter a guilty plea to vehicle manslaughter charges. minority groups are furious they that san francisco police

computers -- they released arrest totals that date back at least ten years. crimes committed by various asian groups were mostly classified as chinese. programs that help minorities say they need accurate record keeping to better focus on their resources. police blame the error on old computers. they are dividing up asians into 18 subgroups. later this morning a jury is expected to hear police tapes of a san francisco crime lab technician that admitted to stealing small amounts of cocaine. if debra madden is convicted she faces a federal charge that carries a possible prison term of four years. she is accused of stealing cocaine from the police crime lab back in 2009. firefighters are slowly gaining ground on the fire near campo in san diego county. the flames have burned nearly 3,000 acres inquest troy -- and destroyed at least 20 homes.

one elderly man died in the fire after he decided not to evacuate. san franciscans will have a new ride to get around the city. san francisco mayor ed lee will announce an agreement with a scooter company. san francisco will be home to the first network of shared electric scooters. at first there will be 50 scooter. primarily in the south of market area. rides will cost $5 an hour or $10 round trip commutes. let's check in with sal. see how folks are getting around this early hour. >> well, they are dave and pam. traffic is going to be busy this morning if you are driving. let's start off with highway 4. we will look at that and the traffic is moving along pretty well here in bay point. but it's going to be slow in the antioch area. it's also going to be very slow as you drive through portions of pittsburgh and bay point. but it's already getting slower for example on the way to concord. out to the bay bridge toll

plaza we go it's backed up. the metering lights have been turn -- metering lights have been turned on. but once you make it on to the bridge it's a ten minute drive into san francisco with no major delays. on the 80 freeway interstate 80 between pinole and richmond it's getting a little more crowded as we move the maps down to hayward. good news san mateo bridge is recovered now. all the lanes are open. traffic is just moderate. i'm looking add the livermore valley and 580 coming in just after 205 we have slow traffic. at 6:20 let's go to steve. thank you, sal. a very good morning. temperatures kind of stuck here. we have a lot of fog making its impact inland. even with a little stronger sea breeze today. no warmup. in fact the coast is really dealing with a lot of fog. in fact temperature there is 50s to upper 50s on the highs.

or very low 60s. right now 50 san rafael. santa rosa with fog as well. 52. everyone is really close here. mid 50s for almost everybody. a little stronger component of a delta please-- delta breeze today. you can see a couple little lows spinning out there. high pressure is supposed to build in. it's supposed to do this. right here by friday. that will scour out that fog. thick fog out there. westerly breeze is in place. 60s and 70s and 80s. low, mid to upper. temperatures i think we carried most of those over into today. about the same thursday. it does look warmer friday. the weekend will be warmer for all. this morning radio shack announced its ceo is stepping down. he agreed to leave the company immediately and resign from the board of directors.

radio shack posted an unsuspected second quarter loss. on the news the stock is set to open higher this morning. it's only $2.50 a share. barnes and noble plans to introduce what they call a nook video service. it will allow viewers to buy televisions. the collection will include videos from hbo and warner brothers. it does put barnes and noble in better competition with apple and amazon. a bizarre story that will definitely hook you. >> there was a fisherman out at priest lake. i knew instantly what happened. >> unbelievable fishing mystery that now has a surprising ending. fake bomb threats are being called into college campuses all across the country. latest happened right here.

received threats that turned out to be false alarms. idaho fisherman made a disturbing discovery. a human finger inside the belly of a trout that after some creative investigation police unraveled the mystery of the fish and the finger. idaho police took the finger and fingerprinted it. after running it there a data base they were able to locate its owner alive and well. he was a washington man that lost four-his fingers at -- four of his fingers at that lake in wake boarding accident. >> i just tell them no we couldn't find them. they are fish food. that is what i told people. >> first he said he didn't want the finger back. now he is talking to his doctor to see if it can be reattached. it's pretty well preserved because of the lake's cold temperature. let's go to sal. something is happening at sfo. what do you know? >> it's just air delays here.

morning, to you. thank you for joining us here on the channel 2 morning news. middle of the week. wednesday september 26th i'm dave clark. >> and i'm pam cook. time now is 6:30. here's a story you will only see on 2. hundreds of pot plants seized in san jose. overnight police spent several hours clearing out a building on charter park drive. janine de la vega has been there since 4:30 this morning talking to people that work nearby. janine. >> reporter: yeah. that is right. i just spoke to somebody off camera that works in the area. this is a pretty industrial area of san jose. she told me she could always smell marijuana in the air. and that most likely was coming from this business which is called onlinefurniturebuy.com. that is because they found hundreds of marijuana plants nearby. down on the ground you can see the paraphernalia that has been left over. invoice pad, this is a bud blood a fertilizer and a temperature gauge police found

inside. just after 10 crank last night police got -- just after 10:00 last night police guilty a call from someone doing a maintenance check. they found 200 marijuana plants growing inside. they found a lab rat lighting and infiltration system. >> 250 plants is a significant bust. it's a phenomenon that has been happening throughout the city. so i wouldn't say it's a surprise. it's definitely a good amount of marijuana. >> police say the furniture business appears to be a front for the grow operation. there is an office desk and compute tear can be seen inside. we went to the website for onlinefurniturebuy.com but it comes from a different address. i called the phone number and nobody is answering that phone. police tell me that it's 50 pounds of usable marijuana product that they confiscated

and that has a street value of $150-$250,000. they also plan on sending out their narcotics unit to follow up to try to catch up with this tenant to find out what he was doing inside here. reporting live from san jose janine de la vega. ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:32. overnight news san jose police say a restaurant cook out on a work break became the latest victim of the growing violence on the streets of san jose. he is now in critical condition after being attacked late last night outside of a 7-eleven store on south white road. police are telling ktvu news the cook was taking a brief break from his job at a nearby restaurant when he was stabbed and brutally beaten. ktvu talked to the police a little while ago. they are still searching for suspects. >> we have several witnesses that came forward to help us with this investigation. we believe it was two hispanic males that left the area. prior to us getting there. we are going to do follow up

and hopefully get these people in custody. >> right now it's not clear what led up to that attack. firefighters have cleared the scene of this house fire on midhurste court. the fire started last night in the garage. it quickly spread to the roof and the attic. the fire crews stayed there until just about 30 minutes ago. they were worried the roof might collapse. five people did escape without any injuries. they are now looking for temporary places to live. san leandro safeway store became a crime scene during the night but it has reopened now to customers. police say five gunmen robbed the check out stands last night. ktvu eric rasmussen is at the store right now on bancroft way. with the latest information. >> reporter: as you said this safeway just reopened its doors in the last 30 minutes. employees here this morning were not on duty last night but they told me they were aware of what happened to their

coworkers and said some were shaken up. san leandro police say as many as five armed men rushed into this safeway around 9:00 last night. they apparently went right for the cash registers in front. investigators say it happened so quickly the men were in and out in a matter of minutes. detectives closed down the super market. there is surveillance video of the robbery and police confirm they are taking a close look at it today to try to identify the people responsible. in the last hour a neighbor here told us this is not the first problem they've had around here. >> it's going to happen. you know. it's bound to happen. you know. you have people that get mugged out here, cars get broken into it. it happens. where i live my car got stolen one time. >> reporter: and in just the last few minutes i checked back with san leandro police. they had no new information. still gathering evidence about what happened here. and of course we will be

following up with them throughout the day. again we also talked to one employee who told us she did not know if her coworkers that were caught up in this robbery would even be coming back to work today. live in san leandro eric rasmussen. chp is looking for the drivers involved in a rolling shootout on interstate 580. officers found this car riddled with bullet holes on the shoulder of 580 last night. they believe someone in another car fired the shots while both cars were moving at about 7:30 last night. no reports of any injuries or arrests. the investigation shut down two miles of westbound 580 for 90 minutes. the san diego sheriffs department is waiting for an update on the conditions of two deputies who were injured during a 15 minute shootout yesterday. investigators say a 30-year-old suspect opened fire during a child sex abuse investigation. that suspect was also injured. both deputies under went surgery. the sheriff is only saying that he is cautiously optimistic about their recovery.

time now 6:36. we are learning about the deaths of two nato service members in afghanistan. they were killed in a suicide attack. nato has not told us their nationalities but an afghan official tells the l.a. times both of those solders were americans. time is 6:36. mitt romney making his pitch to voters in the battleground state of ohio trying to boost his poll numbers. >> he said he can't change washington from the inside. only from the outside. well we're going to give him that chance to be on the outside on november 6th. >> mitt romney was referring to comments made by president obama at a forum last week. after this mornings rally, mitt romney heads to a round table discussion with business lead everiers -- leaders near cleveland. president obama also campaigning in ohio. he will be courting young

voters. new poll shows president obama is getting the upper hand on mitt romney in ohio and florida. in ohio president obama leads romney 53% to 43%. latest new york times poll. in florida 53% of like lie voters say they favor president obama. 44% favor mitt romney. some sad breaking news now. music legend andy williams has died. the singer earned numerous gold and platinum levels. williams suffered from bladder cancer. he died in branson, missouri where he owned the moon river theater. he was 84. >> he was a fascinating man to listen to and enjoy. time now 6:38. sal, you've got things happening in your morning commute. >> yes, we do. it will be a little slow out there in many areas as it normally is this time of the morning. let's go out and take a look at some of the things we're

looking at here. 80 westbound some pretty busy traffic as you head out to the mccarthur maze. there are no major problems on the way. it is getting busy from richmond and down into the mccarthur maze. at the bay bridge toll plaza it is backed top the mccarthur maze to the metering lights that are on. it's about a 20 minute delay. we've had busy traffic in the livermore valley this morning. especially coming in off the altamont pass. it does get better. if you're getting on the freeway at dublin it's not a bad drive. let's go to steve. all right, thank you. a lot of fog for september. there is a lot of fog out there. not going anywhere until maybe the weekend. maybe. there are signs. today it will flex its muscle. it has been working out big time. 50s and 60s by the coast. 60s around the bay or low 70s. inland 70s and 80s. temperatures seem to be running below average. should be 82 in santa rosa. 62 officially the high.

there is other areas. other neighborhoods that are warmer. officially 62. been stuck around 62-63 for the longest time. the pattern looks like it might change. not until about friday. until then we start off with 50s. low to mid. mainly about 50-57 covers it. unless that really tails off it will not warm up inland. high pressure showing signs of building up into oregon. unless a little low spins out of here. that would give us a north, northeast wind which will take care of the fog. again that will be later in the week. morning fog. there is a lot out there. westerly breeze 60s and 70s and 80s. 77 novato, sonoma, and napa. petaluma 74. nice tweet from bub baa. very soupy in petaluma. wants warmer weather. not today. 68 berkeley. hayward 74 degrees. san jose 78.

mateo police will meet with anxious parents at park side elementary school. that is where a nine-year-old girl was taken from the restroom and molested. alex savidge is there. alex. >> reporter: good morning. san mateo police and the superintendent will be meeting with parents later this morning here at parkside elementary school to talk about that kidnapping from last week. even though a man has been arrested in connection with the brazen crime, a lot of parents are still on edge. it was last friday when a stranger came on to campus here and kidnapped a nine-year-old girl from a school bathroom. she eventually managed to escape. prosecutors filed charges against 25-year-old bradley mrozak. san francisco. he groped that girl, put his hand over her mouth, and carried her off of campus. police say eventually the girl fought back and was able to get away as the man tried to bring her to a house in this area. the assistant superintendent told ktvu she is surprised this

happened on campus and says the district will look the what more can be done to keep kids safe. >> i would anticipate there will be changes. along the lines of closing campuses and not letting parents on campus to wait for their children outside of their classroom door. that is something we are discussing and something we will probably include parents in that conversation. >> reporter: friday's kidnapping happened right as school was being let out. the accused kidnapper in this case was arraigned yesterday. prosecutors say the same day the kidnapping on friday earlier in the day he actually had gone to two other nearby schools and harassed students at that time. parents will be gathering here to meet with police and district officials. that meeting here at park side elementary school. live this morning in san mateo alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. former san francisco human rights commercializer due to be

arraigned today on child pornography charges. 66-year-old larry brinkin was arrested last week after they found graphic photos of children on his computer. he was first arrested on similar charge charges in june but they did not file charges saying they needed more time to in fact. two men from sunnyvale were arrest the accused of stealing 49 laptop computers from facebook's old headquarters. 20-year-old brandon simon is a security guard. he used to work at the palo alto campus. he was arrested along with 21- year-old travis calhoun. police pulled them over a short time later. police say they recovered all of the stolen items. facebook completed its move to menlo park but still has equipment at the old palo alto location. bart is saying an electrical

surge was the reason for that unusual sight in san francisco ten days ago. look at these pictures. you see the brief flash of orange in the upper left hand picture and the smoke fills the bart station. barts chief engineer says that was an arch of 1,000-volts of electricity caused by metallic debris on the tracks. he says there was never any fire and that surge caused very little damage. he was a billionaire entrepreneur that helped coplan papal. now he has plans to revolutionize travel. coming up we'll have more on his new vision. there could be progress in the standoff between american airlines and its pilots.

advertised. today we deal with a lot of low clouds and fog. even down to san jose, up to santa rosa. temperatures stuck. 50, 50-57. i haven't changed these at all. inland temps will not be warming up if anything they will stay the same. hi pressure showing signs of building pressure. everything points toward the warmup after tomorrow. morning fog and then sunny. temperatures though if that high does build in and goes up toward oregon and northern california we would get our first knot, northeast wind. again i need to see things develop before i go with it. morning fog, sunny. some of that fog is rather thick. temperatures not going anywhere compared to yesterday. very close. 60s and 70s and mainly low to mid 80s. not much of a change thursday. does look warmer friday.

hearing is scheduled for 2:00 this morning for for the man acaused of kidnapping and killing sierra lamar. he was arrested in may but sierra lamar's body has not been found. investigators say they have dna evidence linking him to the 15- year-old lamar who disappeared in march. san francisco is dealing with its first human case of the west nile virus in seven years. health officials say an unidentified man was hospitalized with the virus late last month. he has not traveled recently so he most likely contracted the mosquito born illness here in the bay area. just last week a dead bird infected with the west nile was near san francisco college. san francisco city college may shut down two of its campuses. they have to come up with a plan to reorganize its finances. shutting down the castro and
